CPME Working group on Digital Health
Chairperson: dr. Alexander JÄKEL (DE)
CPME Secretariat: Ms Sara RODA

The cross-border use of telehealth and telemedicine is increasing in the EU. The Directive on patients' rights in cross-border healthcare sets a legal framework for eHealth for further implementation and deployment.

In order to create trust and acceptability among patients and healthcare providers of digital tools, safety, efficacy, and good cooperation between all eHealth users are essential. Healthcare digitalisation must not increase the digital divide and its use must not lead to discrimination or stigma.

IT usage must not compromise the principles of medical ethicts. Privacy and personal data need to be respected, as well as professional secrecy and medical confidentiality.

CPME actively participates on:
eHealth Stakeholder Group (European Commission Register Expert Group here)
CPME Representative: Prof. Dr Georgios Raptis (DE)
